Damo

"Female Detetctive"

MBC (2003)

From this web page:

Description
Damo was a female detective during Chosun dynasty. With cooks and seamstresses, Damo worked as servants in police station or upper class households. Damos were given the job of detective work despite their low class standings to help with inspection of female victims and gather information. One of the Damo who worked in the palace took big part in solving a conspiracy against the government during the Chosun era.

About the drama
Damo is a mix of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and other Korean historical dramas. It's like a movie that was turned into a drama series. Damo is set in the Chosun era during the reign of King Sook Jong. He's the same King from the KBS hitorical drama "Jang Hee Bin". Damo is based on a comic book series. Also, with the exception of King, these are all fictional characters.

MBC  (2003)

The dramatic story of a woman who rose through the ranks of the Royal Kitchen, but through her intelligence & tenacity, actually wound up being the Royal Physician in the Korean Royal Court.

This drama features a lot of food preparation, which would qualify this show for both the History Channel and the Food Channel!

This show is immensely popular, not only in Korea, but all over the world!
